So Where Were We?

I really can’t stand it when people start blogs with good intentions of posting regularly to them only to abandon them after a few short months. Looks like I’ve joined that prestigious club. I just checked and my last post was about my plans for 2009. Sigh.

Granted, few people are interesting enough as well as inspired enough to make blog posts on a daily basis. I truly admire those who do. I originally began this blog as a journal of my Internet Marketing experiences. In that regard, it also serves the purpose as a kind of therapy. It would take way too long to detail everything that has occurred since my last post back at the beginning of 2009 and now.

Let’s just say that it’s been a bumpy ride.

I think that can be said for many folks doing biz online at the moment. You know, many of the affiliate marketers out there. It’s easy to blame some of the downturn on the recession, but it’s clearly been a factor. Two of my biggest earning affiliate niches have all but dried up.

I truly miss those email notifications informing me that I just made another commission of $136. I also was earning a very nice income from a click arbitrage program that recently became unviable. I always knew that it wouldn’t last, but I still got spoiled by the truly “auot-pilot income” that it produced. A lot of biz opps promise that, but this was the only one that really delivered on that absurd promise.

So where does that currently leave me?

It really depends on how you look at it. I’ve been both cursed and blessed by having been raised to be extremely frugal with my money. So fortunately for me, I didn’t run off on a spending spree and drain my bank account. I still have enough savings to carry me for a while. That really is a huge piece of mind, considering how many others who have lost jobs are finding themselves only a month or two away from homelessness. However, my challenge has been laid right at my feet: find something to replace the lost income. The good news is I have some time to achieve that, but the bad news is that I really don’t – not in my own mind at least.

Yes, in effect, it’s like I’ve lost my job and I need to find another one. I take full responsibility for being in this situation. I knew I needed to diversify my income, but so far have not had much success with it. It’s the same refrain you hear everywhere – from the gurus and on the forums, but it’s a Hell of a lot easier said than done. I wonder how many people really have achieved full diversification in their online businesses.

So here we are again.

I’ve continued to purchase info products – both inexpensive and not so cheap. The good news is that some of the info has been quite good and I’ve benefited immensely from some of the contacts I’ve made in some of the members’-only forums attached to some of these products and courses.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since beginning this blog, it’s to never make promises of posting regularly ever again. However, I’ll do my best to come back here and let it all out when I’m on the verge of smashing my monitor to small plastic bits.
