Is PPC Classroom Right For Newbies?

October 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

As I continue to chomp at the bit waiting to get started with PPC Classroom, I thought I’d post one last time about my initial observations with PPC Classroom. I have no intention at this point of airing dirty laundry from inside the members’ forum or revealing anything further with the status of the course delivery. I know Jeremy Palmer is being pushed to the edge fighting some last minute fires and I still remain confident that once all is said and done that I will have received ample value for my money.

However, I’m not so sure that some others will be able to claim the same at the end.

I’m referring to the “newbies” who purchased PPC Classroom. I really do hate that designation, but its usage is so common now. Still, it does make otherwise intelligent people sound like utterly hopeless morons.

I really think that IM info products should have an experience level rating attached to them.

A comprehensive training program like PPC Classroom is not one size fits all. I feel that I’m ready for it because I have a fair amount of experience with both PPC advertising as well as with affiliate marketing.

I think giving the materials included in PPC Classroom to someone who has absolutely no experience with PPC and hasn’t even built a single Website is like giving an incoming freshmen in an electrical engineering program the course materials for a 400 level electromagnetics course. Such an unfortunate student would be hopelessly lost and this is what I’m afraid will happen to a few of the current customers of PPC Classroom.

And I’m not exaggerating about some members not even having Web hosting. I pointed out today on the forum to one of them that they will need a Web hosting account just in order to run Jeremy’s PPC tool. Forget the fact that even then, they won’t have a freakin’ clue what in the heck to do with it. Let alone upload and install it.

It has been asked on the PPC Classroom forums about the appropriateness of the materials for newbies. The response from the team has been it’s fine for everyone regardless of experience level and that even if you can’t apply all the training now, you will have the materials and can use them when you’re ready.

Sorry, but I find that rather irresponsible.

There’s no question in my mind that the level of the training and the tracking script are for advanced IMers. Newbies will be completely lost. Am I being arrogant and unfair to less experienced IMers? I really don’t think so, but we’ll see how it develops.

It really gets back to my point about info products coming with an experience rating and PPC Classroom should be rated “Intermediate to Advanced Level IMers”.

Good point Rich, and I think you are justified with your thoughts on this.
A couple of points you could take out of this if you were inclined. There would seem to be a whole bunch in that forum, the more experienced IM’ers could make money out of by selling their services to them (welcome to the IM merry go round)

A marketing title like “classroom” has the emphesis on anyone who wants to learn, especially for newbie’s anyway ( we all started school in a classroom knowing nothing, so we are conditioned to it)

Everyone wants to be in at the top, making the big bucks from the offset, so obviously you would get alot of fast trackers with the $$$ who can afford to buy the product.

This reminds me of upmarket car salesmen. I remember several years ago when the ultimate car to have/aspire too was a Lambourghine Diablo.
Very expensive, extremely fast, exhotic etc it would portray the owner as affluent, wealthy and experienced, also lots of hard working people would have it on their list as an ultimate driving experience +200mph, 500bhp etc etc etc

The point is that it should really only be used by the very experienced driver with years of driving knowledge behind them who know how to handle such a machine, Sooooooooo what do you think the average age of a new Diablo buyer was????????

    Yep you guessed it (19)

The point being salesmen know exactly what they are doing and who should and should not be allowed to buy their product.

But they still make the sale, right ?

Hi Realist, great story about the Diablo. I’m still driving around my “project” car — 1991 Nissan 240SX with a 155hp engine. Still saving up to do the SR20 turbo swap to get it up to 205hp!

I realize that I was being overly idealistic in stating that info-products should have an experience rating. It’s just not going to happen. As you point out, why risk losing sales because you’ve scared off some of your best customers, namely, newbies.

It just scares me more than anything else that newbies will drop $500 on something that they have very little chance of being successful with.

Nevertheless, I’m still encouraged by the overall helpful nature of most people involved with IM and their willingness to help less experienced folks.

So in that regard, I can already see some of the less experienced members at PPC Classroom getting some very good help from the other members.

So maybe in the end, it will actually have been a good investment for them even if they don’t master PPC advertising right out of the chute.

    Rich
