In my last post about using a free WordPress blog for Bum Marketing, I listed not being able to display Adsense on these blogs as a limitation of the free version. Then I was reading some of the posts over at Amit Mehta’s excellent blog and ran across one about “Stuff White People Like“. In case you don’t know what this is about, it’s a blog dedicated to musings about the habits and predilections of well…white people in America. I found it interesting in the comments for this post on Amit’s blog that the blogger is actually Canadian, though I haven’t independently verified this myself.

In a previous post I mentioned the noticeable drop in revenue I’ve been experiencing from Adsense on my pages. There has also been some discussion in IM circles about this and the alternatives to Adsense. Of course, like many discussions traveling around the IM community, there is usually a product lurking in the wings to solve the problem at hand.

This is no exception.

Let’s just say that I have looked at some of the contextual advertising alternatives and I’ve also not bothered to check out others. This is due to a combination of both my ingrained laziness and my suspicion that they probably aren’t worth the effort expended to check them out in the first place.

There’s been a lot of buzz recently about Adwords Placement Targeting and the impressive results that many are experiencing with it. Ever since the release of “Adwords180“, interest in what was until recently called “Site Targeting” by Google, has only gained in attention.

The latest version of this Adwords Content Network advertising model now supports both CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) and CPC (cost per click) bidding models. In effect, you can specify the sites where you Content Network ads will be shown. Even right down to a specific page on a particular site. Of course these sites and pages need to have Adsense on them.

I put together a short report on a very effective technique that I use to boost my Adsense revenues a few months ago. I first offered it at an introductory price to members of the Earn1kaDay.com membership site. It’s now in wide release to the IM public at large.

I pretty much gave it away at Earn1kaDay.com and it’s still a steal at the current price of $9.95.

There was a time not too long ago when everyone had “Adsense Fever”. Joel Comm had come out with his “Adsense Secrets” eBook followed later by Michael Cheney’s “Adsense Videos” and then by Andrew Fox and his “Dominating Adsense”. Then it seemed like everyday someone was coming out with Adsense template packs — “Get 1000 Adsense-ready templates for 2 cents!”.

I got sucked in like everybody else.

I learned how to best position my Adsense ad units and how to seamlessly blend them into my pages from Joel Comm. I drooled over Michael Cheney’s Adsense earnings of over $19k per month. I couldn’t get my credit card out fast enough to purchase his “Adsense Videos”.
