Google Nemesis and Energy Alchemy

Today, July 8, 2008, is the big day when “Google Nemesis” “drops“. I like that term: “drops“. The first I heard it used was by Chris “Credit Card Killer” McNeeny. Oops, sorry! That should be Chris “Day Job Killer“. Just a little morbid humor from the wonderful world of IM and interestingly enough, “Google Nemesis” is from none other than Chris McNeeny.

As product launches go, this one seems to be relatively subdued compared to Chris’ previous ones such as “Day Job Killer“. Overall, I’ve noticed that a lot of the hype surrounding big launches has subsided. Hopefully, this is a trend that’s here to stay, but one thing that Chris hasn’t let up on is the power of his earnings’ persuasion.

The sales page wasn’t live when I received an email from one of Chris’ JV partners about “Google Nemesis”.

There was only a video where Chris spent the first portion showing the earnings from his gazillion ClickBank accounts. The most impressive one had what he termed his “$1500 a day” campaign. I don’t know about you, but I salivate when I see all those blue and gray bars in someones CB account.

I only have one CB account and it typically shows all zeros. I’ve tried promoting CB products in the past, mainly using the “Google Cash” method, with very poor results. Also in the past, I’ve purchased just about every info product that promised to show me how to pump up my CB sales, but I’ve come away disappointed each and every time.

I should state from the outset that I’m not promoting “Google Nemesis”. I’m not a big player so of course I didn’t get invited to be a JV partner, which is fine. I also won’t be purchasing GN.

I really have no idea what GN is, though I picked up a few clues from watching the video and visiting the landing page that Chris shared that was built using the tools from GN. If nothing else, it is worth your time to watch the video to see the CB product Chris is promoting. I think that alone reveals a lot about what a hot market truly is.

On a side note:

I like to imagine what people look like simply based on what their voices sound like. My experiments over the years have proven that what I envision someone to look like based on the sound of their voice is 100% inaccurate.

I never fail to be completely off when performing this exercise, though that still doesn’t stop me from doing so. Based on the sound of Chris’ voice, I picture him to be a severely overweight Englishman in his late 50’s who probably looks much older and who only leaves his flat to go round the pub for several pints and a smoke.

Without ever seeing a photo of Chris or meeting him in person I already know a large part of that mental picture is incorrect since I do know that Chris is a relatively young man in his 20’s somewhere. However, I think the part about the pints is most likely correct. At any rate, Chris is an extremely successful marketer and probably one of the best at creating and launching wildly successful products.

The important take aways from the video is the importance of finding a hot product and performing detailed tracking down to the keyword level. It looks like other metrics such as landing page and link details are also tracked via the TID using a cryptic code.

This is critical if you’re using paid search like Adwords.

The neat thing about ClickBank is they have offered the “TID” (Tracking ID) parameter for a while now, which anyone using PPC should be taking full advantage of.

Also judging from the video, it looks like GN provides a tool to edit a review style landing page without the need to mess with HTML. I’m also assuming that there is a script that supports the TID tracking and also perhaps some dynamic content generation on the LP.

My other hunch is that GN is a continuity, which is very smart on Chris’ part.

Chris mentions a spying tool and a system for spotting “competitor forensics” to identify their profitable keywords. These types of Adwords competition spying tools have been around for a while and I take them all with a large grain of salt and I’m assuming that this tool will also be part of the GN membership.

The part the really made me sit up and take notice was the CB product Chris is promoting.

Not to let the cat out of the bag, but since it’s revealed in the video, I’ll just come out with it here. It’s the “Water 4 Gas” product niche in CB. No wonder he’s been doing $1500 per day with it! With gas at over $4 per gallon here in the US and people spending $500 a month to keep their tanks filled, no wonder there are so many “desperate buyers“.

Find a hungry market and give them what they crave.

I won’t go as far as calling these “Water 4 Gas” products scams, but they do skirt the line pretty closely in my opinion. You just need to ask yourself that if these products really do what they claim, then why isn’t this common knowledge? Why aren’t auto makers rushing to build these systems into all new vehicles? And why isn’t the US government mandating such changes? Oh, that’s right, it’s all a big conspiracy between Big Oil and the government.

Don’t know why I keep forgetting that.

There are some valuable lessons to be had from Chris’ GN video about how to promote CB products and more importantly, why you must track your Adwords campaigns to the keyword level. The video also shows the kind of buying frenzy that can arise when there’s a truly burning desire or in this case, a desperate quest for relief from financial pain. As IMers, we each must decide how far we’ll go to exploit these kinds of pains and desires.

Based on a cursory Google search of “water fuel cell“, it looks like the affiliate frenzy is in full swing.

During desperate economic times, alchemy is the opiate of the masses.
