OK, I was caught unprepared for several of my holiday affiliate marketing campaigns this year. I posted previously about how I was going to shortcut the process, at least the landing page building step, by knocking out an eBay “Mini Money Site” and hang some PPC landing pages off of it.

So how did I do?

Despite my best efforts at procrastinating by watching the Washington Redskins blow another winnable game this past Sunday and two consecutive nights of Wizards games, I did manage to build a new site from scratch as well as 2 Adwords landing pages by early Cyber Monday morning.

The process of building these MMSs has become pretty quick for me and I’m even adding some “content” in the way of RSS feeds for news stories, articles, and reviews related to the site niche. So far, all of my keywords for my Adwords search campaigns for this site are still hanging on at “Great”. It does remain to be seen if they retain this exalted status once my campaign starts getting significant impressions.

Building the landing pages took a bit more time since they required manual intervention to bring into existence. But the time savings of having a complete site to hang them on was huge.

Here again, the strategy was to get and hold onto decent Quality Scores so I can keep the campaigns alive on the Adwords Search Network. My site from last year has since been blacklisted by Google for Adwords advertising. Since these campaigns have been profitable in the past, I really had no choice but to build a new site to host them on.

Since this approach looks promising, and at the very least, is lightning quick, I’m going to try it for building landing pages for some other campaigns on existing MMSs. I’ll probably overhaul these sites a bit with some additional content and RSS news feeds before going live with Adwords campaigns.

You can never be too careful, or paranoid, when it comes to appeasing the “Big G“.
