The transition of the eBay affiliate program from Commission Junction to the in-house ePN program has not been a smooth one. In fact, I would venture to say that eBay probably had no idea of the amount of turmoil it would cause. Tracking and reporting glitches are one thing and eBay most likely anticipated some of this.
What they may not have expected was the outcry from so many of their affiliates over them.
Granted, as an ePN affiliate myself, it’s pretty stressful to think that you’re not being properly credited for the traffic you send, but it seems that a lot of the whining was just the result of low conversions for whatever reasons besides problems with click tracking.

The more I watch “Mad Men” on AMC the more hooked I get. This show operates on so many different levels as Ken Kesey was fond of saying. Of course, there’s the central drama of the Madison Avenue advertising firm, which anyone at all interested in sales and marketing should be fascinated by. Then there’s all the sub-plots and individual pyshco-dramas that are slowly playing out over the course of the season. This dramatic tapestry alone simply blows my mind!

I truly don’t mean for IMMania.com to become a mirror of CNBC, but being an affiliate marketer, it’s in my best interests to follow consumer trends. And the latest reports from the retailing front lines are not at all encouraging. Unrelenting pressures from the cost of energy as well as a declining job market have left many American consumers in a foul mood. When this happens, government and business can no longer rely on the stalwart consumer to prop up a sick economy with his wallet.

The importance of tracking when paying for clicks really can’t be overstated. Without a very clear idea of which keywords are converting into cash, you’re really flying blind. By my own admission, I’ve been pretty lax in regards to keyword tracking until only recently.
I realize there are some handy scripts around that make this a fairly easy task, but if you can live without the built-in reports, keyword tracking is really quite easy to implement yourself with just an Excel spreadsheet and a small bit of PHP code.
